Land.EC 11.00: Enhancements to GS2, GS3 Import and Export
May 17, 2011
Ag Connections’ dedication to providing integration solutions to field displays has once again been taken to the next level. Since 2006, Ag connections has been fully committed to meeting the needs of our users that own and operate the GreenStar GS2 and GS3 displays. Field documentation records created on the display are of significant importance from both a regulatory and cost analysis standpoint. The Greenstar integration system has allowed growers to import the display data directly into Land.db, thus bypassing the need for dual entry of records, saving time and increasing farm efficiency. The continuing emphasis on attention to industry trends and emerging technology has been a key element of the Greenstar integration lifecycle. As GS2 2600’s are now being replaced with GS3 2630’s, we have added the capability to communicate with the GS3 2630 system.
Land.EC, the software tool responsible for GreenStar communication, includes a major code overhaul in version 11.0, which streamlines the import and export process, automates processes which were known to be time-consuming to the user, and eliminates potential for user error. Land.EC is now using spatial (Latitude, Longitude) data contained in the GreenStar Documentation records, and spatial data contained in Land.db field boundaries, to create a seamless link between the two systems. A new and improved application mapping interface allows all misaligned information (fields, products, and operators, equipment) to be linked to its proper Land.db reference data, all on one screen.
Land.EC 11.0’s spatial enhancements have opened the door for new processes such as aggregation and disaggregation to take place. Aggregating the data combines records with same date, product and rate into one record inside Land.db. This reduces the amount of records in the database, cleans up reports, and allows for “at a glance” views of total product used. Disaggregation is a process by which GreenStar data is spatially allocated based on matches found with Land.db field boundaries. For example, if the equipment operator creates a new field on the display, and sprays over an area that actually encompasses 4 separate Land.db field boundaries, upon import Land.EC will place the records on the individual fields accordingly. Disaggregation allows more flexibility with imports, and it can automatically correct GreenStar operator error (forgetting to change field name on display etc.).
The latest update to Land.EC also includes a new set of options that allows the user more flexibility when importing records such as fuel use, and carrier information. Examples of this are: users have the ability to see fuel used per acre as a line item in Land.db, and they can opt for a record to have the carrier volume information attached to the record.
Stay tuned for more updates to our GreenStar integration software solutions.
